Russia displays Shershen quadrotor capable of supersonic suppression of drones

Shershen drones can also be used in the oil and gas sector for control of oil and natural gas pipelines and environmental monitoring

MOSCOW, November 21. /TASS/. The Shershen quadrotor that can suppress unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and disperse riots with supersonic sound was exhibited for the first time at the Aeronet-2035 drone show in Moscow, Vitaly Dolgov, who heads a lab at the Kartsev Research Institute, told TASS.

"The Shershen quadrotor is being exhibited for the first time, this is a new prototype, and work is ongoing. It is a very interesting area, a dual-purpose machine with a payload, supersonic sound and radar suppression," Dolgov said. According to him, the UAV can be used to suppress drones and disperse riots.

The Shershen is a drone with a radius of up to 10 km. "We are currently testing a quadrotor shell capable of deflecting radars. This should be its feature. If you look at the sample on display at the exhibition, it has <…> a special paint on it that can deflect radars," he emphasized.

Shershen drones can also be used in the oil and gas sector for control of oil and natural gas pipelines and environmental monitoring. Besides, the creators of this quadrotor are planning to use it for the liquidation of the consequences of emergencies - to detect the possible source of an emergency, to assess the damage and monitor restoration efforts.

Aeronet-2035 opened at the All-Russian Exhibition Center, known as the VDNKh, on November 17 to display Russian-made UAVs and suppression systems. The show runs through November 27.
