MOSCOW, October 21. /TASS/. Russia may open a Consulate General on the Indonesian island of Bali, the country’s envoy to Russia Jose Tavares told TASS in an interview.
"The Russian Consulate General is the initiative of the Russian side," the diplomat said when asked if Indonesia and Russia intended to open a Russian Consulate General in Bali.
"Of course, there are direct steps taken by relevent ministries in Russia, mostly by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Indonesia, obviously. It (the opening of the Consulate General - TASS) can be [done] through the Russian embassy in Jakarta," he added.
The envoy believes that providing consular assistance to Russian citizens, who are now quite numerous in Bali, is a very good initiative. "It's a really good initiative," Tavares stressed.
