Ukrainian troops pound Severodonetsk with artillery, mortar fire — LPR

According to an aide to the LPR interior minister Vitaly Kisilev, Ukrainian troops are even aiming at areas where humanitarian aid is being distributed to residents

LUGANSK, June 21. /TASS/. Ukrainian artillery is pounding the city of Severodonetsk in the Lugansk People’s Republic (LPR) in a bid to inflict as much damage as possible, an aide to the LPR interior minister, Vitaly Kisilev, told TASS on Tuesday.

"The Ukrainian Armed Forces are destroying the city with artillery fire coming from Lisichansk, and mortar rounds coming from the Azot plant industrial zone. All apartment buildings have already been damaged," he said.

According to the official, Ukrainian troops are even aiming at areas where humanitarian aid is being distributed to residents. One of such cases was registered on June 18.

According to earlier reports, Ukrainian forces have been driven out of Severodonetsk’s residential quarters. An operation is under way to surround them in Lisichansk and the Azot plant industrial zone. Up to 6,000 Ukrainian servicemen may be encircled if the operation succeeds.
