MOSCOW, April 25. /TASS/. The US Secret Service maintains close contact with the Russian embassy and helps ensure the security of Russian diplomats, Russia’s ambassador in Washington, Anatoly Antonov, told the Rossiya-24 round-the-clock television news channel in an interview.
"We have close contact with the United States Secret Service, which is responsible for the security of Russian offices abroad. I should say that in very many cases it is very helpful and helps address security issues," Antonov said.
"The situation is complicated," Antonov said. "At a certain point the embassy’s exit was blocked. There were large demonstrations and acts of vandalism. Our consular office and the homes of Russian diplomats were vandalized with paint."
Also, Antonov said that the embassy was receiving threat messages and letters with "the most terrible warnings."
"We react to them in various ways, through the US Secret Service and via Moscow," Antonov said adding that alongside this the embassy was receiving messages expressing support for Russia and understanding of its attempts to "break the US-dictated order."
"Lately, our diplomats driving about the city repeatedly experienced aggression from other drivers, who tried to provoke dangerous situations and make them nervous," Antonov said.
