SEVASTOPOL, November 13. /TASS/. A car exploded in Crimea’s Sevastopol, killing a serviceman who was inside, Governor Mikhail Razvozhayev said on his Telegram channel.

Circumstances of car blast

- The first reports of a fire in Sevastopol came at 9:53 a.m. local time [6:53 a.m. GMT].

- According to eyewitnesses, a car exploded and caught fire.

- Russian firefighters arrived at the scene at 9:59 a.m. local time [6:59 a.m. GMT].

Fatality

- A driver was inside the car. Rescuers managed to evacuate him immediately. Doctors rushed the man to the hospital, but were unable to save his life.

- The man killed in the incident turned out to be an active Russian serviceman.

Investigation

- Sevastopol Governor Mikhail Razvozhayev did not rule out the possibility that the incident was the result of sabotage.

- He urged the residents and the guests of the city to be vigilant and report any suspicious persons or objects.

- Russian investigators have opened a criminal case on terrorism and illegal circulation of explosives.

- According to them, the preliminary cause of the explosion was an explosive device attached to the bottom of the car.
