MOSCOW, November 13. /TASS/. The fifth-generation Su-57’s demonstration flights at the Airshow China in Zhuhai showcased the unmatched capabilities of the aircraft, a microcosm of the strength and ingenuity of Russia’s defense sector, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said.
"The Su-57’s international debut in China was striking and clearly demonstrates our strong commitment to this area," she said, pointing out that military experts praised the "unmatched capabilities" the plane displayed at the air show.
The diplomat underscored that Russia is open to working equitably with its international partners. She noted that the Airshow China, held since 1996, allows all interested parties to show off their achievements, and Russia’s participation in this event helps boost defense cooperation and promote Russian products on global markets, Zakharova said.
The Su-57 (NATO call sign Felon) is a Russian multirole jet. It is intended to eliminate all kinds of airborne, ground and naval targets. Its features include the ability to reach supersonic speeds, internal weapons bays, radar absorbent material coating and the newest avionics complex. The onboard integrated computer system can assume some functions of the pilot, including piloting and weapon arming.
The Airshow China, the largest international aviation salon in China, takes place in Zhuhai. The exhibition is a showcase for military and civilian aviation vehicles, space, navigational and radar equipment, aviation weapons, rocket engines, fire control and air defense systems.
