GENICHESK, March 26. /TASS/. Ukraine's military has targeted three energy infrastructure facilities in the Kherson Region despite the announcement of a temporary moratorium on strikes against the energy system, according to Governor Vladimir Saldo.
"Since the moment the moratorium on attacks on energy infrastructure was declared, the Ukrainian military has conducted targeted shelling and ammunition drops using UAVs on the Vinogradovo substation, Bolshaya Lepetikha, and the Novaya Kakhovka substation," Saldo stated.
He noted that if the opposing side had adhered to the moratorium, energy services could have accelerated repair work and improved infrastructure. "However, given the extent of the damage and the ongoing shellings, achieving full restoration during this period is quite a challenge," he added.
The governor specified that over the past three years, a significant portion of the Kherson Region's energy infrastructure has been damaged due to shelling, but efforts to restore it have been made to the fullest extent possible. "In some villages, particularly those near the frontline, the infrastructure has been so severely damaged that restoration is extremely difficult, often requiring complete replacement of electrical equipment or even the construction of new facilities," Saldo explained.
On March 25, the Kremlin released a list of Russian and Ukrainian facilities that were agreed upon by Moscow and Washington to be protected under the temporary moratorium on strikes against the energy system. This moratorium has been in effect since March 18 for a duration of 30 days, with the possibility of extension by mutual agreement.
On March 26, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that the Kiev regime continued to strike Russian energy infrastructure, despite Vladimir Zelensky's assertion that agreements had been reached to halt the attacks. The ministry emphasized that "Kiev is doing everything possible to undermine the US-Russian agreements.".
