MOSCOW, February 14. /TASS/. Medical equipment worth 50 million rubles will be sent from Russia to the Russian Red Cross (RRC) hospital in the near future, RRC Chairman Pavel Savchuk wrote on his Telegram channel.
"In the next few days, we will be working in Ethiopia as part of the Russian delegation. Together with our colleagues from the Russian Ministry of Health and specialized agencies, we will carry out a lot of work on modernizing the Russian Red Cross Hospital named after Dejazmatch Balcha in Addis Ababa and interact with our Ethiopian colleagues in 2025," Savchuk said.
In a few days, medical equipment worth almost 50 million rubles will be delivered to the medical center to "upgrade the hospital and address the issues there," the RRC head added.
"Furthermore, we had meetings with both the Ethiopian Ministry of Health and the agency responsible for licensing and accreditation of medical devices and products. The government allocated funds for humanitarian aid, which will soon be sent to hospitals - later it will be used to assist the population of Ethiopia," he noted.
The Russian delegation included Alla Samoylova, head of Federal Service for Surveillance in Healthcare, Alexey Osipov, head of the Federal Disaster Medicine Service of the Russian Ministry of Health, Olga Kobyakova, head of the Central Research Institute for Health Organization and Informatics of the Russian Ministry of Health, and others. While in Ethiopia, the specialists plan to visit the state hospital and Addis Ababa Silk Road General Hospital in Ethiopia, a Chinese-invested medical facility, to study local experience and discuss potential areas of cooperation. The Russian delegation will also meet with the leadership of the Ethiopian Red Cross Society to discuss joint initiatives on enhancing humanitarian and medical programs.
