MOSCOW, November 7. /TASS/. On Thursday, Russian President Vladimir Putin will take part in the plenary session of the Valdai International Discussion Club in Sochi.
Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov has noted that the president’s speeches at Valdai meetings traditionally draw much interest.
Putin has taken part in the club’s meetings every year since it was established in 2004. Usually, he delivers a speech on international political issues and then takes experts’ questions. This time around, the Valdai Club is holding a meeting against the backdrop of the results of the US presidential election as Donald Trump secured a victory. Participants in the meeting are expected to ask the Russian leader’s opinion on the issue. However, Peskov has said that Russia has its own agenda and that yesterday’s launch of a new nuclear-powered icebreaker is more important for it than Trump’s victory.
The 21st annual meeting the Valdai Discussion Club running on November 4-7 has brought together 140 experts from 50 countries. This year, the forum is titled "Lasting Peace on What Basis? Common Security and Equal Opportunities for Development in the 21st Century."
