MOSCOW, April 18. /TASS/. Russia’s most advanced T-14 Armata tank has received anti-skid coating, which also enhances its camouflage, Mikhail Begman, head of the brigade at the Uralvagonzavod defense manufacturer in charge of preparing the armor for Victory Day Parade in Moscow’s Red Square, told TASS on Thursday.
"The rough surface on the Armata performs several functions: camouflaging (the surface’s uneven structure) and enabling a tank operator to easily move along the armor. The same coating is applied to the Yars missile system," he said.
Specifically, an anti-slip coating has been applied to the tank’s entire upper front end, which has a steep slope. Without this type of coating, especially in rainy weather, a tank operator may slip off, for example, while climbing on the tank or performing some maintenance work that requires some movement along its armor. Consequently, such falls may cause serious injuries.
The T-14 Armata tank was unveiled for the public at the Victory Day Parade on May 9, 2015. The new combat vehicle features fully digitized equipment, an unmanned turret and an isolated armored capsule for the crew.
