MOSCOW, May 27. /TASS/. Russian air defense forces shot down a Ukrainian MiG-29 fighter jet in the Odessa Region and intercepted a Tochka-U missile in the Lugansk People’s Republic, Defense Ministry Spokesman Major-General Igor Konashenkov said on Friday.

"Russian air defense capabilities shot down a MiG-29 plane of the Ukrainian Air Force over the settlement of Belyary in the Odessa Region," the spokesman said.

The Russian air defenses also intercepted a Ukrainian Tochka-U ballistic missile near the community of Svatovo in the Lugansk People’s Republic, the general said.

The Russian air defense capabilities also eliminated eight Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles near the communities of Liptsy, Balakleya, Maliye Prokhody, Glubokoye and Glinskoye in the Kharkov Region, Yampol, Maslyakovka and Vasilyevka in the Donetsk People’s Republic, the spokesman specified.
