Trailer trucks queue close to 4,000 on Ukrainian-Polish border

Provisional direct losses of the Ukrainian economy from blocking of crossing points are already over 400 mln euro, according to the Ukrainian federation of employers

MOSCOW, November 24. /TASS/. Trucks crowded on the border between Poland and Ukraine is approaching four thousand due to the continuing strike of Polish carriers, spokesman of the Ukrainian state border service Andrey Demchenko said.

"The situation on the border with Poland remains challenging. Four crossing points are now blocked. About 3,700 trucks are in the queue," he said, cited by the Ukrainskaya Pravda news outlet.

On November 6, Polish carriers blocked three main checkpoints on the border with Ukraine and one more on November 23. They demand cancellation of benefits granted to Ukrainian carriers by the European Union, restore the previous licensing procedure and cancel permits issued to Ukrainian transport companies after February 24 of the last year.

Truck drivers have to stay in long queues for days. Negotiations with strikers have not bear fruit so far.
