PARIS, December 5. /TASS/. French President Emmanuel Macron said he plans to serve out his term in office until it ends in 2027.
"I was elected for a five-year term, and I will fulfill my duties until the end of my mandate," Macron said in an address to the nation broadcast by BFMTV television.
He condemned the opposition, which he said is "only thinking about the presidential election."
"As everyone knows, I cannot run in the next presidential election, which is due in 2027. Therefore, my agenda is not linked to any ambition, but only to the country's agenda," Macron stated.
"There are 30 months that remain before the end of the presidential term," the president said. "They must be 30 months of useful activity for the country. To do so, the cabinet must be based on realities. France's future cannot be built by increasing taxes and multiplying administrative rules.".
