Israel constructive regarding evacuation procedures — Palestinian Ambassador to Russia

Abdel Hafiz Nofal stressed that the evacuation from the checkpoint was secured, and there were no reports of shelling

MOSCOW, November 13. /TASS/. Israel has been constructive in the evacuation through the Rafah checkpoint over the past two days, no shelling of the checkpoint has been reported, Palestinian Ambassador to Russia Abdel Hafiz Nofal told TASS.

Commenting on the evacuation of 70 Russians through the Rafah checkpoint, the ambassador could not say whether further evacuations are planned in waves over several days due to the constantly changing situation near the checkpoint. "This is a matter of Egyptian-Israeli relations. Israel occasionally blocks the checkpoint and occasionally coordinates its operations. They have been interacting normally for the past two days on issues of evacuation and humanitarian aid. However, we have no idea what will happen tomorrow," the ambassador said.

He stressed that the security of the evacuation of the checkpoint was maintained and no shelling was reported.

The Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations has been working with Russian diplomats to manage the evacuation of Russian citizens from the Gaza Strip who were caught up in the Palestinian-Israeli war. The first Russian citizens entered Egyptian territory through the Rafah gate on Sunday. A total of 70 Russian citizens passed through the checkpoint, including 28 children.
