NEW DELHI, June 24. /TASS/. The Indian authorities have officially released comprehensive data regarding the tragic crash of the Air India Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner near Ahmedabad, Gujarat, on June 12. According to NDTV, citing the Gujarat Health Department, the disaster resulted in the deaths of 275 people - 241 aboard the aircraft and an additional 34 on the ground.
This marks the first official confirmation of the final death toll. Previously, the authorities withheld specific figures while DNA identification procedures were still ongoing. The state health department confirmed that all bodies have been recovered from the crash site: 260 have been identified through DNA analysis, while six others were recognized based on facial recognition. The victims included 120 men, 124 women, and 16 children.
The incident involved a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner operated by Air India, which crashed into a residential area near Ahmedabad shortly after takeoff. The flight was en route to London. An investigation into the causes of the crash is currently underway.
