Ambassador to continue visiting Russians imprisoned in US

BUTNER /North Carolina/, November 15. /TASS/. Russian Ambassador to Washington Anatoly Antonov plans to continue meeting with Russians imprisoned in the US in 2023, as he himself told reporters after visiting Russian national Roman Seleznev in prison in Butner, North Carolina.

When asked to specify his reasons for meeting with certain Russian citizens jailed in the US, Antonov said: "Perhaps, in this case it depends on how often their names are mentioned in the media." "It’s just that I decided this year - you probably noticed it - that I would make three such visits at the end of the year. <...> This year, it is the last trip of the kind. However, I have certain plans to visit more of our fellow countrymen next year," the envoy said.

"We will continue this work as long as we have enough strength and energy to get such meetings," Antonov emphasized.
