About 7,000 runners take part in int’l Europe-Asia marathon in Yekaterinburg

Marathon disciplines included three, ten, 21 and 42 kilometer runs

YEKATERINBURG, August 5. /TASS/. About 7,000 people took part in the 4th International Europe-Asia Marathon in the Ural city of Yekaterinburg lying on the border of Europe and Asia, marathon’s director, Andrei Utkin said on Sunday.

"Whereas there were 4,507 participants last year, this year it brought together 6,804 people. Dynamics are obvious. The overall prize fund is more than one million rubles (15,787 US dollars) that will be distributed among the winners," he said.

According to minister of physical culture and sports of the Sverdlovsk region, Leonid Rapoport, people of disabilities are admitted for participation in competitions in all disciplines.

Marathon disciplines included three, ten, 21 and 42 kilometer runs.

The International Europe-Asia Marathon has been held in Yekaterinburg since 2014. All the routes run through the city’s historical center, to the Europe-Asia stele.
