CAIRO, March 22. /TASS/. Unidentified persons attacked Iraq's consulate in Istanbul, the Iraqi Foreign Ministry said.
"Unknown individuals armed with Kalashnikov rifles approached the Iraqi consulate in Istanbul on Friday and fired at least eight shots at the building before fleeing the scene," the Iraqi Foreign Ministry stated in a press release on its official Telegram channel. The ministry added that on whether any diplomatic staff were injured.
The street around the diplomatic mission remains blocked, as Turkish authorities have "launched an investigation into the incident." Meanwhile, Baghdad has expressed its readiness to cooperate with Ankara "to clarify the circumstances of the attack and bring those responsible to justice," the Iraqi Foreign Ministry stated.
