Russian companies receive offer to build container ships in Chinese shipyards

MOSCOW, May 16. /TASS/. Russian companies have been invited to consider building container ships in Chinese shipyards, according to the press service of Deputy Prime Minister and Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Far Eastern Federal District Yury Trutnev.

"Russian companies have been invited to consider the possibility of building container ships at Chinese shipyards with the involvement of financing from Russian and Chinese financial development institutions," it said in a statement after a meeting of the Business Council of the Russian Far East and the Northeast of China.

The session addressed the issues of transport and logistics, shipbuilding, agriculture, energy and tourism. According to Alexander Kakhidze, CEO of Fininvest and Chairman of the Russian part of the Business Council, regular shuttles through the Grodekovo-Suifenhe and Kamyshovaya-Hunchun railway checkpoints to Russia's largest dry port Artyom can be launched now.

The third business council was attended by over 200 representatives of more than 100 Russian and Chinese companies. The formation of specialized working groups in the fields of transport and logistics, tourism, finance, as well as scientific, technical, innovative and industrial cooperation was considered. Opening permanent representative offices of the Business Council in Vladivostok and Beijing was discussed.
