MOSCOW, June 6. /TASS/. The MOEX Index has risen above 2,900 points for the first time since May 14, 2025, according to trading data. The positive dynamics followed the Central Bank’s decision to cut the key rate by 100 basis points to 20% per annum.
As of 1:31 p.m. Moscow time (10:31 a.m. GMT) the MOEX Index was up by 1.82% at 2,908.5 points. By 1:47 p.m. Moscow time (10:47 a.m. GMT) the MOEX Index had narrowed gains to 0.5% as it traded at 2,870.9 points, while the RTS was up by half a percent at 1,142.96 points.
The MOEX Index was above 2,900 points during the evening trading session on May 19, 2025.
The MOEX Index slipped by 0.02% to 2,856.01 points, while the RTS Index fell by 0.02% to 1,137.04 points as the main trading session started on Friday.
The Bank of Russia has lowered the key interest rate by 100 basis points to 20% after maintaining it at 21% annually for an extended period. Meanwhile the regulator emphasized the need for a sustained period of tight monetary policy.
