MOSCOW, February 27. /TASS/. Representatives of at least seven countries confirmed their participation in the 9th international conference Far East and Arctic: Sustainable Development (Far East and Arctic - 2024), due in Moscow in March, the organizing committee's chairperson Elena Zlenko told TASS.
"Confirmed participants include representatives of Iceland, China, Norway, the US, Turkey, Finland, Japan - at least as of now," she said after a news conference at TASS.
The Northern Sea Route's development would be a key topic. According to the First Minister for Development of the Far East and Arctic Gadzhimagomed Guseinov, in 2023, the traffic along the Northern Sea Route was record high - 36.2 million tons, and the transit also hit the record - 2.1 million tons. Other topics on the agenda will be: backbone territories, energy infrastructures, innovations, healthcare, environmental problems and how to respond to them.
"It was most important for us not just to have another meeting, and we offer a very wide platform to involve businesses in the implementation of the president's orders," the organizer said.
The conference will have two plenary sessions and 12 roundtables. "It is very important to have a feedback from businesses, from people, from big and small companies on how they plan to participate in federal projects. This conference is an ideal platform for a dialogue of the kind," she added.
The 9th international conference Far East and Arctic: Sustainable Development will take place at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation on March 5-6, 2024. TASS is the general information partner.
