Russian energy ministry to report to cabinet on admitting Rosneft to Nord Stream 2 shortly

Alexander Novak noted that the president had requested considering the issue

MOSCOW, September 15. /TASS/. Russia’s Energy Ministry will submit a report on the reasonability of Rosneft’s gas export via the Nord Stream 2 pipeline to the government in the near future, Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak told reporters on Wednesday.

"The Energy Ministry’s report is to be submitted in coming days, and the government will report to President," he said.

Kommersant daily wrote in late August about a letter by Chief Executive Officer of Rosneft Igor Sechin, in which he asked Russian President Vladimir Putin to allow the company to export up to 10 bln cubic meters of gas per year through an agent agreement with Gazprom that has the monopoly privilege to export natural gas by law.

The president has requested considering the issue, Novak confirmed later.
