CARACAS, February 25. /TASS/. Venezuela and Turkey plan to almost quadruple mutual trade to $3 billion in 2024, Venezuelan Foreign Minister Yvan Gil Pinto said on Saturday.
"Today we have fully reviewed the agenda of bilateral cooperation <...> and highlighted the achievements of recent years that were reached thanks to Presidents Recep Tayyip Erdogan of Turkey and Nicolas Maduro of Venezuela," he said at a televised news conference following talks with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan in Venezuela.
The minister said that on orders from the presidents of the two countries, trade should be ramped up from $800 million to $3 billion this year. Gil noted greater cooperation with Turkey in mining, tourism, air transport and said that Venezuela "has become an important supplier of raw materials for the petrochemical industry in Turkey."
Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro met with Fidan on Friday, describing the event on X as "excellent." He said Venezuela has "strong friendship with brotherly Turkey.".
