WASHINGTON, November 1. /TASS/. The US military’s stereotypical perceptions about the Russian Armed Forces’ capabilities prior to the Ukraine conflict were far from the real state of affairs, Lieutenant General Scott Berrier, Director of the US Defense Intelligence Agency, said in the Center for Strategic and International Studies based in Washington, DC.
"The biggest thing for us is <…> our preconceived notions about what the Russian military was turned out to be not true," he said when asked what lessons the US military has learned from the Ukraine conflict.
According to Berrier, the conflict taught the United States to analyze the capabilities of other countries’ armed forces in a different way. He gave no details.
In addition, the general said that the United States had learned the importance of more candid and trust-based cooperation with its allies in the intelligence field.
"We’ve learned a lot of lessons," he said.
