CHISINAU, February 27. /TASS/. The overwhelming majority of Moldovans want their country to stick to constitutional neutrality as far as the conflict in Ukraine is concerned, according to the results of a public opinion poll released by the Institute of Marketing and Polls on Monday.
"According to the survey, seventy-three percent of those polled said that the best option for Moldova amid the current situation in Ukraine is to stick to its constitutional neutrality," the pollster said.
Sixty percent of respondents said they are afraid that the conflict in the neighboring country may spread into Moldova’s territory, whereas 29% don’t think it is possible. Only 20% said that Moldova should join NATO or another military alliance due to the conflict in Ukraine.
The poll was conducted in 89 Moldovan settlements from February 6 to 23 and involved 1,100 respondents.
