More foreigners express interest in moving to Russia, drawn by shared values — lawmaker

Maria Butina noted that these foreigners "may not be bonded to us by blood, but in spirit they are with us"

MOSCOW, March 21. /TASS/. More and more foreigners are showing an interest in moving to Russia, said Maria Butina, a member of the Russian State Duma’s International Affairs Committee.

"Our discussion will concern the initiative put forward by the Russian president last August, specifically issues relating to the relocation of overseas nationals, driven [here] by shared spiritual and moral values. Today, we can see that this inflow is increasing," the MP said at a roundtable.

Butina noted that these foreigners "may not be bonded to us by blood, but in spirit they are with us."

In February 2024, Putin supported the idea of Italian student Irene Cecchini who suggested that Russia ease entry rules for those who share traditional cultural and family values. The head of state decreed to facilitate relocation procedures as humanitarian aid on August 19.
