WASHINGTON, March 3. /TASS/. US C-130 Hercules military transport aircraft have carried out the first airdrop of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip, Reuters said, citing sources.
According to the news agency, more than 38,000 meals were delivered. No water or medicines were included.
Later, CENTCOM, the US Defense Department’s Central Command, confirmed this information. According to it, "US Central Command and the Royal Jordanian Air Force conducted a combined humanitarian assistance airdrop into Gaza <…> to provide essential relief to civilians affected by the ongoing conflict." It was stressed that the agency is "planning for potential follow-on airborne aid delivery missions."
On Friday, US President Joe Biden announced a decision to send humanitarian aid to the embattled Palestinian enclave.
