Egyptian hospital prepares 30 infant incubators for newborns from Gaza’s Al-Shifa

According to one of the heads of a medical institution located in the province of North Sinai, Ahmed Mahdi, the children are expected to arrive “today or tomorrow”

EL-ARISH /Egypt/, November 19. /TASS/. A hospital in the Egyptian city of El-Arish has prepared 30 infant incubators for the newborns from Al-Shifa Hospital in the Gaza Strip, Ahmed Mahdi, a senior official of the Egyptian hospital, told TASS on Sunday.

"Thirty infant incubators and hospital beds for older children are ready. We expect them today or tomorrow," he said, adding that the El-Arish hospital can receive "around 50% of underage patients from Al-Shifa."

According to Mahdi, eighty-one patients from the Gaza Strip are currently undergoing treatment at his hospital. "All of them were wounded as a result of shelling attacks and are suffering from wounds of various degrees of gravity and severe burns," he said. "A team of psychologists is working at the hospital because there are many cases of psychological trauma."

According to the latest data, Egypt has received 231 patients from the Gaza Strip since October 21. They were evacuated via the Rafah border crossing.

An official of the Egyptian press center at the Rafah border crossing told TASS earlier in the day that Egypt is ready to receive the first group of children from Al-Shifa Hospital. The children were transferred to a hospital in Palestinian enclave near the checkpoint earlier in the day and the Egyptian side hopes that they will be evacuated soon.
