Russia’s Progress MS-30 resupply hip to deliver new Orlan spacesuit to orbital outpost

Currently, Russian cosmonauts use Orlan-ISS No. 4 and Orlan-ISS No. 5 spacesuits for extravehicular activity outside the space station

MOSCOW, February 24. /TASS/. Russia’s Progress MS-30 resupply ship scheduled for launch on February 28 will deliver a new Orlan spacesuit to the International Space Station (ISS) for extravehicular activity, the State Space Corporation Roscosmos announced on Monday.

"The cargo includes new Orlan-ISS No. 6 spacesuit for cosmonauts’ spacewalks under the Russian program," Roscosmos said in a statement.

Currently, Russian cosmonauts use Orlan-ISS No. 4 and Orlan-ISS No. 5 spacesuits for extravehicular activity outside the space station.

Specialists of Roscosmos enterprises assembled a Soyuz-2.1a carrier rocket with the Progress resupply ship on February 24. The carrier rocket will be brought to the launch pad of site No. 31 at the Baikonur cosmodrome on February 25.

In addition to the new Orlan spacesuit, the Progress MS-30 resupply ship will deliver nearly 2.6 tons of useful cargo to the ISS, including 1,179 kg of apparatus and equipment, stowage for scientific experiments, clothing, food, medical and hygienic sets for the crew, 950 kg of refueling propellant, 420 kg of potable water for cosmonauts and 50 kg of nitrogen to replenish the ISS atmosphere, it said.

"The resupply ship will also deliver stowage for conducting the Aseptic, Biodegradation, Virtual, Cascade, Lasma, Mirage, Neuroimmunity and Photobioreactor experiments aboard the station," Roscosmos said.
