Eurasian Economic Union’s doors always open to all — Putin

This is advantageous as it creates economic benefits, opens up access to large markets and improves conditions for cooperation, the Russian president added

DUSHANBE, October 10. /TASS/. The current operating mechanism of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) serves all members of the association, and its doors remain open to all, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at a Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) summit.

"The EAEU’s doors are always open," he stressed. "In my view, this is advantageous as it creates economic benefits, opens up access to large markets and improves conditions for cooperation," Putin added.

"Ultimately, it’s simply useful," the Russian president underlined.

According to Putin, the EAEU’s tools make it possible "to use them to realize the emerging potential" even in "an unusual situation" like today.

The Russian president highlighted that "within the CIS, we were unable to create mechanisms acceptable for all participants in the process, so a group of countries chose to deepen trade and economic ties, establishing the EAEU." "If some additional steps can be taken within the CIS, I agree," he added.

"If all those willing to introduce some additional tools and mechanisms in order to deepen our cooperation, we should support that," Putin said, evaluating the possibility of strengthening integration within the CIS. "Economic cooperation underpins efforts to solve all other problems," the Russian leader concluded.
