Macron's speech shows that Paris is thinking more about war — Kremlin spokesman

"One can conclude that Paris’ thoughts are mostly about war, about continuing the war," Dmitry Peskov stated

MOSCOW, March 6. /TASS/. French President Emmanuel Macron's speech yesterday was extremely confrontational, showing that Paris thinks more about war than peace, Russian Presidential Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said in response to a question from TASS.

"The statement was extremely confrontational. It can hardly be perceived as a speech by a peace-minded head of state. Rather, from what was said, one can conclude that Paris’ thoughts are mostly about war, about continuing the war," the Kremlin spokesman stated.

The day before, Macron addressed his fellow citizens, announcing that he would initiate discussions with allies regarding the potential protection of European countries under the umbrella of the French nuclear deterrent. This proposal was prompted by Friedrich Merz, a candidate for the German chancellorship. In his speech, Macron emphasized the escalating threats facing Europe and France, particularly those allegedly posed by Russia. He argued for the necessity of increasing defense spending beyond the previously approved budget. Additionally, the French leader reaffirmed his commitment to supporting Ukraine in its conflict with Russia.
