Russian troops develop methods to bypass Ukrainian EW systems — soldier

Russian developers track which frequencies are being jammed, switch to a different frequency, reflash the system, and the control works better, the soldier said

LUGANSK, August 24. /TASS/. Russian troops in the Slavyansk-Kramatorsk metropolitan area have learned to bypass enemy electronic warfare (EW) systems while operating ground robotic systems, by tracking which frequencies are being jammed and reprogramming the equipment to use different ones, a ground robotic system commander of the Russian Battlegroup South’s 75th Separate Unmanned Systems Regiment with the call sign Borzy told TASS.

"Of course, our equipment is being jammed, but we’re looking for loopholes, looking for ways to get through without being affected by electronic warfare, and we can switch control to other frequencies. Our developers, the people working specifically on the hardware and programming, track which frequencies are being jammed, switch to a different frequency, reflash the system, and the control works better," he said.

The officer noted that control frequencies are constantly changing, since both Russian and Ukrainian drones operate on different frequencies, and the enemy’s electronic warfare systems function in varying ways. According to him, it takes about a week on average to reconfigure the equipment and find the optimal frequencies.
