MOSCOW, April 1. /TASS/. The German-made Marder infantry fighting vehicle seized by the South battlegroup will help Russian experts study its armor, communications and reconnaissance systems and upgrade Russian arms correspondingly, Editor-in-Chief of the National Defense Journal Igor Korotchenko told TASS.
The Marder was seized in the Avdeyevka direction in good order. The 30-ton vehicle got stuck in the mud and was abandoned by the Ukrainian crew.
"It is extremely interesting for the Russian defense industry engaged in armor production. Experts study its strong and weak points. Any western hardware is of interest. It is studied and analyzed to upgrade domestic hardware and determine the weak points for destruction," he said.
Russian troops in the zone of special military operation have been tasked to seize hostile hardware in good order and evacuate damaged vehicles. "It refers to all weapons, beginning from firearms and up to sophisticated systems. They are fully dismantled for a detailed study of various units and mechanisms," Korotchenko said.
