"Ukrainian forces have been using prohibited white phosphorous shells extensively in the Zaporozhye direction," the commander of a company of snipers with the call sign Ali said

MELITOPOL, March 25. /TASS/. Ukrainian troops have been using banned white phosphorus indiscriminately near the Zaporozhye sector of the line of engagement, the commander of a company of snipers with the call sign Ali told TASS.

"Ukrainian forces have been using prohibited white phosphorous shells extensively in the Zaporozhye direction," he said.

Using white phosphorus as a weapon is banned under the 1977 additional protocols to the Geneva Conventions. The document bans the use of white phosphorus shells in localities or areas where civilians may be affected.
