MOSCOW, January 9. /TASS/. Russian forces inflicted damage on Ukrainian army personnel and military hardware in the Donetsk area, eliminating roughly 240 enemy troops, Russia’s Defense Ministry reported on Tuesday. Here are the details of this and other combat actions that happened over the past day, according to the bulletin.
Donetsk area
"In the Donetsk direction, units of the southern battlegroup with the use of aviation, artillery and heavy flamethrower systems delivered strikes inflicting damage on the manpower and hardware in strongholds of the 22nd and 72nd mechanized brigades, 95th air assault brigade and 113th territorial defense brigade near the settlements of Antonovka, Bogdanovka and Kleshcheyevka in the Donetsk People’s Republic,” the ministry said in a statement.
According to the ministry’s data, "the enemy’s loses in that area amounted up to 240 troops killed and wounded, four pickup trucks and a D-30 howitzer."
Southern Donetsk area
Russian forces repelled two Ukrainian attacks in the southern Donetsk area during the past day, having neutralized up to 80 Ukrainian troops, the Russian defense ministry said.
“In the southern Donetsk area, units of the Battlegroup East, backed by tactical and army aircraft, artillery systems and heavy flamethrowers, repelled two attacks of assault groups of Ukraine’s 127th territorial defense brigade near the settlement of Priyutnoye in the Zaporozhye Region. As a result, up to 80 Ukrainian troops were neutralized and two cars were destroyed,” it said.
Apart from that, a Ukrainian Gvozdika self-propelled artillery system and a D-30 howitzers were hit by Russian forces in the course of counterbattery activities.
Krasny Liman area
The losses of the Ukrainian army in the Krasny Liman area have amounted to roughly 190 servicemen in the past day, as well as an Akatsiya self-propelled artillery system; Russian troops also hit enemy units in that area, the Defense Ministry said.
"In the Krasny Liman area, units of the battlegroup Center, supported by ground-attack and army aircraft, as well as artillery fire, hit units of the 63rd mechanized brigade of the Ukrainian army, the 125th territorial defense brigade and the 13th brigade of the Ukrainian National Guard near the settlements of Torskoye of the Donetsk People's Republic, Chervonaya Dibrova of the Lugansk People's Republic, as well as the Serebryansky forestry. Up to 190 Ukrainian servicemen, three vehicles, as well as an Akatsiya self-propelled artillery system were destroyed as a result," the ministry added.
Zaporozhye area
In the past 24 hours, the Ukrainian armed forces lost up to 30 troops and 2 BMP vehicles on the Zaporozhye direction.
"On Zaporozhye direction, Russian forces inflicted fire damage on personnel and vehicles of 65th and 118th Mechanized brigades, as well as the 15th National Guard Brigade near settlements of Verbovoye and Rabotino, Zaporozhye Region. The enemy lost up to 30 troops and 2 BMP vehicles on this direction," the Ministry said.
Counter-artillery fire destroyed a D-20 howitzer and a Gvozdika self-propelled artillery.
Kharkov Region
Russian forces wiped out an ammo depot belonging to Ukraine’s 125th territorial defense brigade near Vesyoloye and struck manpower of two more Ukrainian brigades near Sinkovka and Peschanoye in the Kharkov Region.
"In the Kupyansk area, units of [Russia’s] Battlegroup West, supported by artillery and warplanes, struck concentrations of manpower and equipment of Ukraine’s 57th Infantry Brigade and 44th Mechanized Brigade near the settlements of Sinkovka and Peschanoye in the Kharkov Region. The enemy lost roughly 30 troops, two cars, and two D-30 howitzers. In addition, an ammo depot belonging to the [Ukrainian] 125th Territorial Defense Brigade was destroyed near Vesyoloe in the Kharkov Region," the ministry said.
Russian forces destroyed a Ukrainian ammunition depot near Krasnoarmeisk in the Donetsk People’s Republic, the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement.
"An ammunition depot belonging to the 31st Mechanized Brigade of the Ukrainian armed forces was destroyed near Krasnoarmeisk in the Donetsk People’s Republic," the statement reads.
Artillery and air defense
Russian forces destroyed 109 Ukrainian artillery units over the past day.
“The strikes destroyed a P-18 aerial target detection and tracking radar, 109 artillery units of the Ukrainian forces at the firing positions, manpower and hardware in 126 districts,” the ministry said.
Russian air defense systems intercepted ten Vampire MLRS projectiles and shot down six drones during the past day.
“During the day, air defense systems intercepted ten Czech-made Vampire MLRS projectiles. Apart from that, six Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles were shot down near the settlements of Krivosheyevka and Volcheyarovka in the Lugansk People’s Republic, and Maryinka in the Donetsk People’s Republic," it said.
