CEC to discuss holding presidential election in Russia’s four new regions on December 11

Voting in the presidential election will be held over three days: from March 15 to 17, 2024

MOSCOW, December 11. /TASS/. The Russian Central Election Commission (CEC) will consider on Monday a draft resolution on the options for holding the 2024 Russian presidential election in the territories of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), Lugansk People's Republic (LPR), Zaporozhye Region and Kherson Region, according to the draft agenda of the CEC meeting.

"On holding the election of the President of the Russian Federation on the part of the territory of the Russian Federation on which martial law has been imposed," reads the draft resolution, which will be considered at today’s meeting of the CEC, which is slated to begin at 1:00 p.m. Moscow time (10:00 a.m. GMT).

Earlier, CEC Chairwoman Ella Pamfilova said that the decision to hold the presidential election in the four new regions would be made no later than December 12, after consultations with the Russian Defense Ministry and Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB), as required by law. Voting in the presidential election will be held over three days: from March 15 to 17, 2024.
