Russian troops take control of Sol railway station near Soledar, official reports

According to Denis Pushilin, fighters of PMC Wagner continue their advance beyond Soledar

MOSCOW, January 17. /TASS/. The Sol railway station outside Soledar has been taken under control of Russian troops, acting leader of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) Denis Pushilin told Rossiya-24 television on Tuesday.

"Fighters of PMC Wagner <...> continue their advance beyond Soledar. Certainly, it was of paramount importance for us to cut communication between Seversk and Artyomovsk (known as Bakhmut in Ukraine - TASS). I must say that PMC Wagner has mastered that task, for the Sol [railway] station is already controlled by those assault teams," Pushilin said.

On Sunday, Russian Defense Ministry Spokesman Lieutenant General Igor Konashenkov reported that assault detachments of Russian troops in cooperation with units of Airborne Troops continued to advance toward the northern outskirts of Artyomovsk and the Sol railway station. Prior to that, the general explained that full control of Soledar would make it possible to cut off supply routes of Ukrainian troops in Artyomovsk located southwest of there and subsequently block the city and entrap the Ukrainian military there.
