Russia-to-Turkey tourist flow may see six-percent increase in 2022

According to Turkey’s Ministry of Culture and Tourism, 3.9 mln tourists from Russia visited the country in the first nine months of 2022

MOSCOW, November 2. /TASS/. The tourist flow from Russia to Turkey may exceed the figure for 2021 by 4-6% in 2022, according to the Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR).

"The analytical service of ATOR believes that, taking into account the active arrivals of Russians in Turkey in October, the extension of flight programs from tour operators, and the launch of new flights to Istanbul for the winter period, the tourist flow from Russia to Turkey in 2022 may reach 4.8-4.9 mln arrivals. Under certain conditions, it could be possible to reach the level of 5 mln. This is 4-6% more than in 2021, but still 30-32% less than in the record-breaking 2019 period," the statement said.

According to Turkey’s Ministry of Culture and Tourism, 3.9 mln tourists from Russia visited the country in the first nine months of 2022. This is 12% more than in the same period in 2021, but 34% less than in the three quarters of 2019. According to the Turkish authorities, in 2022 the total inbound tourist flow to the country could reach 50 mln people, ATOR added.
