West deliberately destroying European security system, says Putin

The Russian president drew the attention of the conference participants to the fact that the NATO bloc is moving to the East, bolstering its military infrastructure, including the deployment of missile defense systems and increasing offensive forces' attack capabilities

PATRIOT PARK /Moscow region/, August 16. /TASS/. The collective West is purposefully destroying the European security system, Russian President Vladimir Putin said in his address to participants and guests of the Moscow Conference on International Security.

"The so-called collective West is purposefully destroying the European security system, putting together more and more new military alliances," Putin said.

"The US and its vassals are grossly interfering in the domestic affairs of sovereign states. They organize provocations, state coups and civil wars. Using threats, blackmail and pressure, they attempt to force independent states to bend to their will and live according to rules that are alien to them,” he added.

Putin stressed, "All this is being done with one goal - to hold on to its dominance, using this model that allows it to feed off the entire world, as it has done for centuries, and this model can only be sustained by force."

He drew the attention of the conference participants to the fact that the NATO bloc is moving to the East, bolstering its military infrastructure, including the deployment of missile defense systems and increasing offensive forces' attack capabilities. "On paper, this is hypocritically declared as a need to boost European security, but in reality, the exact opposite is happening. At the same time, Russia's proposals from December last year were simply ignored once more," Putin concluded.
