WASHINGTON, March 13. /TASS/. US President Donald Trump said his Special Envoy Steven Witkoff is currently holding "very serious discussions" on Ukraine in Russia.

"We have people talking in Russia, we have representatives over there: Steve Witkoff and others, and they are in serious discussions," Trump said.

Previously, Russian Presidential Aide Yury Ushakov said Russian President Vladimir Putin was expected to meet with Witkoff on Thursday, when ready.

The US special envoy’s plane landed in Russia at around 12:31 p.m. Moscow time (9:31 a.m. GMT) on March 13.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt announced on March 12 that Witkoff would travel to Moscow to discuss Ukrainian crisis settlement.
