Militarization of Europe may not suit US, alternative needed — Lukashenko

The Belarusian president urged to "coexist amicably and pursue a more stable policy"

MOSCOW, March 13. /TASS/ The militarization of Europe is a questionable endeavor that may not align with the interests of the United States; however, there exists an alternative approach: a policy grounded in honesty and openness, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has told the media.

"Let us wait and see how they will go about the business of securing 800 billion euros for European military spending, and reconsider where this funding will actually come from," Lukashenko remarked. "There is another path - one that is entirely open, honest, and peaceful. The conflict in Ukraine is urging us toward this direction: enough is enough; let us coexist amicably and pursue a more stable policy."

Lukashenko went on to comment on European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen: "She has probably never encountered modern weapons - missiles and the like - let alone even a standard handgun, yet she is already thinking on a grand scale about arming and forming a European army." He added, "As for [US President] Donald Trump, his stance is clear to everyone. It’s on the tip of my tongue - who will allow them to proceed with this?"
