About 600 conscripts involved in operation in Ukraine were recalled to Russia — prosecutor

Twelve officers responsible for sending them abroad have been reprimanded

MOSCOW, June 7. /TASS/. About 600 conscripts from the Western Military Region were wrongly involved in the special military operation in Ukraine and all of them have been returned to Russia within the tightest deadlines. Twelve officers responsible for sending them abroad have been reprimanded, the Western Military Region’s prosecutor Artur Yegiyev told the Federation Council.

On Tuesday, the Federation Council’s committees on constitutional legislation and statehood, as well as on defense and security, supported the candidacy of Artur Yegiyev for the post of military prosecutor of the Strategic Missile Force.

Russian President Vladimir Putin earlier ordered to rule out the use of conscripts in performing any tasks on the territory of Ukraine. However, in early March, a number of cases were exposed of conscripts’ presence in military units participating in the special military operation. Putin issued orders to take all cases to the Chief Military Prosecutor's Office for punishing those responsible.
