Death toll from explosion at hotel in Havana up to 18 — Cuban authorities

HAVANA, May 7. /TASS/. The death toll from the explosion at the Saratoga Hotel in central Havana has risen to 18, the Cuban government tweeted on Friday.

"According to the latest reports, 18 are known to have been killed, including a pregnant woman and a child," the statement said.

A total of 64 injured, including 14 under-age persons, are in hospitals. A search-and-rescue operation is continuing on the site.

The authorities have ruled out a terrorist attack. An accident is suspected to be the main cause of the incident.
