BRASILIA, May 25. /TASS/.Russia and Brazil are discussing long-term supplies of liquefied natural gas (LNG) to Brazil, Russian Minister of Economic Development Maxim Reshetnikov told reporters.
"Negotiations between the companies are now underway," the minister said. "It is very important that these volumes (of LNG supplies – TASS) are contracted. They will be contracted in any case but spot-based supplies are one thing and long-term supplies, which create confidence not merely for producers but also for consumers, are the other thing, taking into account developments occurring from time to time and the extent of price volatility in the spot market," he noted.
The negotiations enter the substantive stage, Reshetnikov said. "Certainly, we still have to make quite a lot of efforts to turn this entire case into a contract," he added.
