Trade between Russia, Iran up by 14.7% in 9 months of 2024 — deputy PM

Alexey Overchuk also said that Russia expects that the free trade zone agreement between the Eurasian Economic Union and Iran will enter into force in 2025

TEHRAN, December 23. /TASS/. Trade between Russia and Iran grew by 14.7% in the first 9 months of 2024 and reached $3.3 billion, Deputy Prime Minister Alexey Overchuk told reporters.

"In the first nine months of this year, it [trade] has already grown by 14.7%, reaching $3.3 billion. This is very good growth," he said.

He also said that Russia expects that the free trade zone agreement (FTA) between the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and Iran will enter into force in 2025.

"We expect the agreement to come into force - and this is a unique agreement, because there we actually open more than 90% of product lines to each other - and it will open up very good opportunities for trade growth," the Deputy Prime Minister noted.
