Russian PM favors increase in food exports from EAEU countries

"This year the Union is expected to demonstrate growth of agriculture production in dollar equivalent by more than 20% compared with 2020," according to estimates provided by Mikhail Mishustin

ALMATY, February 3. /TASS/. Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin is confident that the EAEU (Eurasian Economic Union) member states can increase supplies of agriculture products to other countries, including to China.

"We consider the possibility of new countries joining the project (Eurasian Agroexpress, the project on development of exports to China and other countries of Southeastern and Central Asia using EAEU countries' infrastructure - TASS), as well as removing restrictions on supplies to China," he said when summing up the results of the expanded meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council on Friday. The Eurasian commission has been provided with respective proposals, according to the premier. "This will also make a considerable contribution to solving the tasks on expansion of export potential of our agriculture producers," he noted.

"This year the Union is expected to demonstrate growth of agriculture production in dollar equivalent by more than 20% compared with 2020," according to estimates provided by the Russian PM. "Currently we fully meet the domestic demand for such goods, and we can and should actively develop the export mechanism, including within the framework of the Eurasian Agroexpress project," he concluded.
