Putin demands constant improvement of armaments

According to the Russian leader, the opinion of those who use military equipment on a routine basis, who comprehend "how it really fulfills the function for which it was developed" should be taken into consideration concerning each item of such equipment

SOCHI, November 2. /TASS/. Russian weaponry needs to be continuously upgraded, Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Wednesday at a meeting of the Coordination Council on the army’s needs.

"Armaments <...> must be constantly, continuously improved and must remain effective," he stressed.

For this purpose, Putin emphasized, it is crucial to ensure proactive competition among manufacturers and developers.

"Competition is important in general and always for efficient operation of the economy, and in this case it is of paramount importance," Putin noted.

In addition, the president outlined other priorities in meeting the troops’ needs. In his words, the opinion of those who use military equipment on a routine basis, who comprehend "how it really fulfills the function for which it was developed" should be taken into consideration concerning each item of such equipment.

"I mean the equipment, the first aid kit and any other things, even those that may seem insignificant at first glance," Putin explained.
