Russia’s large landing ship conducts exercise off Kurils

According to the combat training plan, the artillery squads of the large landing ship practiced tracking and destroying the mocks of floating mines in a conditional mine-affected area

MOSCOW, February 14. /TASS/. The MANPAD squads of the large landing ship of Russia’s Pacific Fleet, the Admiral Nevelskoy, destroyed a drone of conditional saboteurs in the course of an exercise near the Kuril Islands, the fleet reported on Tuesday.

"According to the plan of the exercise, the crew of the large landing ship Admiral Nevelskoy detected an unmanned aerial vehicle launched from a desert island by a group of conditional saboteurs. During the exercise, the personnel prepared the Igla MANPAD for use, and the air defense squads took the aerial target on an escort. The `enemy’ drone was destroyed by two rockets as it approached," the fleet said in a statement.

The fleet added that, according to the combat training plan, the artillery squads of the large landing ship practiced tracking and destroying the mocks of floating mines in a conditional mine-affected area.

Earlier, the crew of the ship Admiral Nevelskoy held an exercise to practice embarking and disembarking of personnel and vehicles of the Pacific Fleet’s marines in Kamchatka.
