West ships old weapons to Ukraine that get ground down by Russian forces — UN envoy

Vasily Nebenzya also underscored that Ukraine has turned into a "true proving grounds for weapons, where new types of weapons are being tested, modified and improved at the cost of lives of Russians and Ukrainians"

UNITED NATIONS, February 8. /TASS/. Ukraine receives mostly obsolete weapons from the West that are being subsequently ground down by Russian forces, Russian Permanent Representative to the UN Vasily Nebenzya said during a UN Security Council meeting Wednesday.

"Ukraine receives mostly obsolete weapons that are being ground down by the Russian army, while NATO armies get modernized and Western weapon makers receive excess profits, while lulling taxpayers with the need to support Ukraine," he said.

Nebenzya also underscored that Ukraine has turned into a "true proving grounds for weapons, where new types of weapons are being tested, modified and improved at the cost of lives of Russians and Ukrainians."

"How could weapon makers ever refuse such opportunities and such profits?" he noted.
