Central Russian regions enhance air defenses, take extra security measures — Patrushev

"Efforts have been taken to patrol areas close to critically important and potential dangerous facilities. Measures have been taken to prevent arsons and other destructive actions against these sites," the top security official said

VORONEZH, November 16. /TASS/. Regions in Russia’s Central Federal District have enhanced air defenses and taken extra measures to protect the population and infrastructure amid growing threats, Security Council Secretary Nikolay Patrushev said at a meeting on the District’s security on Thursday.

A similar security meeting last year set the tasks of ensuring anti-terror protection of vital and potentially dangerous facilities, the top security official said.

"In the process of implementing these tasks, required measures were carried out to enhance mobilization readiness and civil defense. Reserve governance posts of regional authorities and local administrations have been brought into compliance with the nature of the tasks being fulfilled," Patrushev said.

As the top security official pointed out, "regional operational headquarters have taken measures for the protection of the population and critical infrastructure and have also enhanced air defenses."

"Efforts have been taken to patrol areas close to critically important and potential dangerous facilities. Measures have been taken to prevent arsons and other destructive actions against these sites," Patrushev said.

In addition, "the Russian government has provided required funds to the regions bordering Ukraine to equip territorial defense lines," he pointed out.

"Work has been organized to update lists of fuel and energy facilities that need to be categorized taking into account new challenges and threats. Criteria have been approved for referring facilities of all kinds of transport to critically important and potentially dangerous sites and categories of their significance and danger have been defined," the top security official said.
